Let's be real about beginnings.

Hello!

It's Equinox Time, and I am thinking about beginnings.

Also? Here in Maryland, the temperature was in the 40s on First Day of Spring,

so I am thinking about how often, beginnings take their damn time.

Our culture often portrays a new beginning as a burst of light and life, all fresh and new and obvious.

But in my experience?

Beginnings are rarely so tidy and clear.

It helps me to remember:

beginnings require steps in a new and unpaved direction,

and therefore

they involve understandable trepidation.

Quite a bit of second-guessing.

Not knowing quite where to put my foot next.

Not completely trusting that I'm headed the right way.

It's easy to interpret our trepidation as self-doubt

or worse

as a sign that we're not up to the challenge of What's Next.

LET'S NOT.

Let's know that uncertainty is part of every New Beginning.

Let's trust that we cannot step in the wrong direction,

because every step makes us a little stronger

and a lot wiser about the new territory.

Let's breathe a sigh of relief when we remember

there's no need to think 20 steps ahead on the new path.

No need to plan for every scenario.

You'll navigate the challenges and receive the blessings as they come,

like you always have

and always will.

The only step you need to know is the next one.

Take it.

love,

Natalie
